DIY Driftwood Jewelry Organizer

When I started teaching, I started wearing a lot more necklaces – I’m not sure why, it just happened that way.  So, until recently, my bathroom counter looked like this:

I had half my beauty accoutrements organized nicely in their vintage containers…and then my necklace pile splayed all over and tangled.  But all summer I’ve been thinking of creating a driftwood jewelry hanger.  I’m not sure why I decided on driftwood, but it stuck in my head and wouldn’t get unstuck.  So when I found the perfect piece of wood, I immediately came home and whipped up this:

All the caps lock all the time.  Not only does it get my necklaces (well, most of them) up off the counter, but it’s just gorgeous (if I do say so myself!).  It was a pain in the butt to hang on the wall (I ended up nailing through some thinner spots) – but so worth it.  All it is is a piece of (free!) driftwood and about 10 1/2″ brass cup hooks.
